In addition to regular Pack and Den meetings, Pack 208 plans numerous special events.
Pinewood Derby – Another annual Pack event, each scout is provided with a kit and allowed to build their car as they please as long as it fits within the rules provided. The cars are placed at the starting line of a 4-lane ramp and released – entirely gravity-powered and friction-limited. An electronic finish line records race times. Trophies are awarded by den and overall, for first, second and third place. There is also a prize for the coolest car. This event is always a lot of fun, and a scout favorite!
Raingutter Regatta – An annual Pack event. Scouts will receive a boat kit to assemble, paint & decorate as desired. For racing, the boats are propelled by “wind power” – each scout moves his or her boat along a rain gutter filled with water by blowing into the plastic sail. Scouts race in multiple heats with awards given to top 3 finishers in each Den as well as the top 3 finishers overall.
Blue & Gold Banquet– Celebrate the Scouting Anniversary and also celebrate pack leaders and other adults who have been instrumental in the pack's success, and inspire the leaders, Scouts, and parents.
Pack Picnic/Crossover –May’s Pack meeting and picnic is a celebration of the completion of a year long journey in scouting. It is also the Pack send-off party for the Webelos II dens, who have earned all their necessary badges and are ready to “crossover” to their Boy Scout Troop. We have a bridge that the scouts ceremonially walk across to their waiting Troop. Along with the crossing over ceremony we have light refreshments, awards, and great entertainment. Fun for all!
Camping – Two nights of camping out in tents with the Pack in group campsites. Location to be determined at a later date. Camping is required for Scouts to check off few requirements from their handbook. Parents must camp with the scouts.
Community Service – Our Pack believes strongly in teaching Scouts the value of giving back to the community. As service projects gets closer, families will be given information.
